Aims and Scope

The journal Tokovi istorije originated from a periodical publication of the Institute for the History of Labour Movement in Serbia – Tokovi revolucije. Under this name, the collection was first published in 1967 and was released annually until 1989. From 1990 to 1993 the journal published by the Institute for Recent History of Serbia was called Tokovi. The present structure of the journal was established in 1993. It was renamed to Tokovi istorije and gained a new format, content, and style.

The journal publishes articles on the contemporary history of Serbia and Yugoslavia, on internal development and their place in the European and global context.

The published papers are interdisciplinary and based on original archival research.

The journal publishes only original scholarly papers that meet high academic standards: Besides publishing the peer-reviewed papers in the journal sections Studies and articles Contributions, Historiography, and Sources, the journal also publishes the contributions that fall into the sections Polemics, Critics, Essays, Reviews, Information on conferences.

The journal does not publish non-academic works that are purely essayistic in character, with mythological contents, endorsing racist, nationalist or other discriminatory concepts, or those that include any kind of hate speech, personal reflections, or literary prose with no academic relevance. The works that do not comply with the journal’s chronological and thematic scope will not be published.

All submissions are subject to rigorous scholarly screening, both during the initial editorial overview and subsequently through double blind peer review.

The journal Tokovi istorije is published three times a year; the third issue is published in English.

Open Access Policy

Tokovi istorije is an Open Access Journal.

All articles can be downloaded free of charge from the journal’s website and used in accordance with the Creative Commons Atribution NonCommercial NoDerivs 4.0 International (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/). The journal does not charge any fees at submission, reviewing and production stages.
